Configuration guide

Tandem or side-by-side: which is right for your family?

Neither configuration is universally better. Tandems solve width but can make the two seats unequal. Side-by-sides treat both children more similarly but make every narrow doorway relevant.

Choose a tandem when width governs the decision

A tandem is usually the safer starting point for narrow pavements, older homes and frequent shopping. Check the view, recline, weight limit and legroom of the second seat rather than assuming both positions are equivalent.

Choose side-by-side when equal seating matters

For twins or children at a similar stage, side-by-side seating can feel more balanced. Steering can also be natural because the weight sits across one axle. The cost is width, so measure your real route before committing.

The bottom line

If narrow access is a daily fact, start with tandem. If equal seats and regular outdoor use matter more—and your doors allow it—start with side-by-side. Then use the Finder to apply the remaining filters.
