What to look for in a double pushchair
1. Width: measure your real pinch points
A nominal “standard doorway” is not the whole problem. Measure the narrowest front door, hallway turn, lift, shop entrance and storage space you use regularly. A few centimetres can decide whether a side-by-side is liberating or exhausting.
2. Configuration: tandem or side-by-side?
Tandems are usually narrower, but the seats are not always equal. Side-by-sides give both children a similar view and can steer naturally, but width becomes a daily constraint. There is no universally better format.
3. Children: twins are not the same as siblings
A pushchair that accepts a newborn carrycot and a toddler seat is not automatically suitable for two newborns. Twin suitability is therefore a hard Finder filter, not a soft preference.
4. Terrain: buy for the normal week
Large wheels and suspension help on rough ground but add weight and folded bulk. If most journeys are shops and smooth pavements, that capability may be an expensive inconvenience.
5. Budget: include the configuration you actually need
The chassis price can exclude a second seat, carrycot, adapters or rain covers. Our guide price represents an indicative two-child setup where possible; confirm the exact basket before buying.
